"Street Fighter V" will be released this week and ahead of the game's debut, it was revealed on the official Street Fighter Twitter page that the first DLC character for the game will be released in March, and it's none other than Alex.

The character, based on WWE legend Hulk Hogan, made his debut in the popular gaming franchise in "Street Fighter III." Though the American fighter was absent in the next installments, he continues to be a fan-favorite, often making it to the top 10 lists of the most favorite characters in the series.

Apart from Alex, other DLC characters include Guile, Ibuki, Balrog, Juri, and Urien. The five characters will arrive in April, May, July, August and September. The order in which they arrive has yet to be announced. According to Rock Paper Shotgun, the characters will come with extra costumes and the game's 2016 Season Pass will give players instant access to the fighters and their costumes.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Capcom director of brand marketing Matt Dahlgren explained that some costumes can be earned only with the game's Fight Money, while others can only be purchased with the game's real money currency called Zenny. Meanwhile, characters and stages can be bought with either Fight Money or Zenny.

"Players can earn Fight Money by completing the single player content in the game with each character, and by winning online matches," said Dahlgren. He added that players can also get a Fight Money bonus each time one of their characters level up.

Dahlgren said that they created "Street Fighter V" with the intention of having players invest in it for years as one of the game's new rules is that anything that can affect gameplay needs to be earnable with Fight Money.

"If players continue to play the game, they should be rewarded with new content," said Dahlgren.

"Street Fighter V" will be available for PC and PlayStation 4 on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
