Fans of "Stranger Things" can now expect the return of El/Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) de facto sister, Kali a.k.a. Eight (Linnea Berthelsen), as the showrunners hint at a high possibility of her returning for the third season of the show.

The Duffer brothers, the writers and creators of the sci-fi series, have revealed that Kali's return to the show has already been planned. That said, it can only happen if the third season of "Stranger Things" gets approved, However, given how popular the show is, the possibility is big.

Mike Duffer has also said that they couldn't just leave Kali's storyline unresolved. "It feels weird to me that we wouldn't solve [Kali's] storyline. I would say chances are very high she comes back," he said. Thus, many expect that the next season might expand on her character, possibly incorporating her into the Hawkins community.

Ross Duffer, on the other hand, expressed in a show panel that nothing has been set yet. "We are [in] very early days on season three and we're still figuring it out. I probably wasn't supposed to say that... That's not official, that wasn't an official announcement — we're just working on it, just for our own amusement...for fun!" he revealed.

At the moment, Netflix has yet to confirm the return or renewal of the show for a third season. Still, the Duffer brothers remain optimistic with their plans to expand the show to four or five seasons. As for Kali, it is not yet known what role she will take on, if any, in "Stranger Things."

Fans can recall that Kali was glimpsed in a brief appearance in season 2's episode 1: "MADMAX" but was not properly introduced until episode 7: "The Lost Sister," which was unique since it took place in the city instead of the provincial town of Hawkins. The episode saw the reunion of Kali and Eleven who both have psychic powers, the former being able to create mind illusions while the latter has telekinesis.
