'Stranger Things' season 3 news: Next season gets lower episode count

The next season of "Stranger Things," in addition to becoming stranger, will also become shorter, as the episode count of season 3 for the Netflix show has been revealed and has less than that of the previous seasons.

"Stranger Things" season 3 will reportedly have only eight episodes, which is one less compared with season 2's nine, though it is equal in length to the first season. There is also the fact that David Harbour, one of the actors of the show has claimed that season 3 will not be arriving until 2019, meaning the eight-episode season should not be expected this year.

There is, however, no exact and official word on the release date of the show has been revealed yet, so lots of things are still possible for "Stranger Things" right now including the premiere date of season 3. One thing is for certain though, the showrunners are in for a tougher time in the show, as their main cast is ageing and it is only a matter of time until the theme of the show changes based on their appearances.

Co-creator Matt Duffer has stated that "Our kids are ageing. We can only write and produce the show so fast. They're going to be almost a year older by the time we start shooting season three. It provides certain challenges. You can't start right after season two ended. It forces you to do a time jump. But what I like is that it makes you evolve the show. It forces the show to evolve and change, because the kids are changing. Even if we wanted it to be static and we wanted to continually recycle the same storyline — and we don't — we would be unable to, just because the kids are changing. It's cool, though. The audience is going to be able to watch these kids come of age every year."

While this means that the show would be adjusting to the age range of their cast, the Duffer brothers have assured viewers that the quality of the show will not suffer because of this. They also stated that they are not worried about the kids of the show ageing in real life since they can adjust accordingly and still make it work. Fans should stay tuned for further announcements from Netflix.
