The much-awaited "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will either see Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) allied or at odds.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" director Rian Johnson, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, revealed that the film would significantly focus on Rey and Kylo Ren's unconventional relationship. He also teased that the two would somehow find their similarities amid their many contrasts.

Even though they come from two opposing sides, Rey and Kylo Ren's fate will eventually meet. In an interview with USA Today, actress Ridley hinted at the possibility of tackling their relationship more in the film.

"These are two people who represent two very different sides of life, good and evil," Ridley, who starred in the movie "Murder on the Orient Express," said, adding that this matter would be revealed more in the film. The actress further added, "That's going to be explored more in this."

Similarly, Driver noted that the film would be a journey for his character, Kylo Ren. "He has been aware of this ability in himself from such a young age, and I don't think there's a lot of people around him who are on the same level," the actor says about Kylo Ren's Jedi abilities and the realization that Rey could be his match.

Driver added, "I think that there is something familiar there, as well as something to be feared, or something...that he can't quite place." It is speculated that the dark Jedi envies and respects Rey in equal amounts, but he can only express the former emotion.

With the trailers only confusing fans with its mysterious hints and teaser clips, many are now wondering if there would be a movement between the two with regards to their forces. Those who have been following the franchise will know that the possible alliance between the two is rather interesting given that in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the two were enemies.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" premieres in theaters on Dec. 15.
