"Star Wars" fans were on alert during Monday Night Football as they waited for the official trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" to premiere on ESPN. When the trailer finally aired, fans immediately took to social media to celebrate, and even the film's stars were overjoyed when the trailer premiered.

John Boyega and Daisy Ridley, who play Finn and Rey in the movie, were emotional as they watched the trailer for the very first time. The actors took to their respective Instagram pages to post videos of their reaction to the trailer, and both seemed to be filled with awe upon seeing themselves become part of the "Star Wars" legacy.

In her Instagram video, Ridley is in bed, with a white quilt pulled up to her chin while she watches the trailer on her phone. Ridley's eyes widen as she hears her voice in the trailer, and she sheds tears of joy as she says, "Oh my God…this is amazing!" She captioned the video, "Staying in a little b'n'b with my friend…Set an alarm to watch the trailer."

The actress revealed that her friend filmed her reaction to the trailer. "Totally emotional seeing it for the first time and so so so incredibly awed to be part of this incredible legacy," she continued. Ridley's fans congratulated her on the trailer, and one fan predicted that the actress "will be a legend" once the movie premieres.

Meanwhile, Boyega had a hilarious reaction upon seeing himself in the trailer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor was stuck in traffic when the trailer aired Monday night, but he promised in a Twitter post that he would film his reaction to the trailer, and as promised, he posted a video of himself watching the clip later that night.

Boyega is seen sitting on a couch and nodding while he watches the clip. "Yep…yep…" he says, while nodding vigorously at the images on the screen. At one point, he gets very excited as he jumps up and flings himself over the couch.

"What?! What?!" Boyega exclaims from the back of the couch.

"THE TRAILER IS JUST EEEEPPPPPPPIIIIIICCCCCCC!" Boyega captioned the Instagram video. "Star Wars is back! You know what! Let me just relax because this kind God oooo!"

Ridley and Boyega were heavily featured in the trailer, as it has been previously reported that the upcoming film will focus on the new additions. After the trailer aired, more speculations arose that their characters are both in possession of The Force, and there are even more rumors claiming that Rey is Luke Skywalker's daughter.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" premieres on Dec. 18.
