'Splatoon 2' And 'ARMS' release date news to be announced at this week's Nintendo Direct

"Splatoon 2" to release in the summer nintendo.com

A new Nintendo Direct event is scheduled to begin today, April 12, and it will reportedly serve as the venue to announce the release dates for both the upcoming "Splatoon 2" and "ARMS" video games.

Nintendo of America hinted about the announcement on Twitter, saying that the next Nintendo Direct event will start at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. EDT. It will reportedly center on new details regarding the company's latest gaming console system, the Nintendo Switch, as well as other news regarding the Nintendo 3DS. The announcement also confirms that the upcoming event will center primarily on the details of the "Splatoon 2" and "ARMS."

Reports claim that the third-person shooter game "Splatoon 2" is slated for release sometime during the summer. But there are no reports yet regarding the official release date of the sequel of the 2015-released "Splatoon" game for Wii U.

According to reports, the upcoming "Splatoon" sequel will come out with the same team-based action of the original game where players will be equipped with guns that shoot inks to defeat their opponents.

Before the game's release, the beta of "Splatoon 2" was launched in late March to allow Nintendo Switch users to try out the game before its official release date.

On the other hand, the "ARMS" fighting game was first announced during the Nintendo Switch presentation early this year. It is scheduled to come out in the market by Q2 2017. According to other sources, the upcoming fighting game will be the one and only major first-party released title for the new Nintendo console other than the "1-2-Switch" game.

Meanwhile, IGN speculates if Nintendo will talk about its next smartphone game during the upcoming Nintendo Direct event this week, since its last announcement about a mobile game happened in January with the launch of "Fire Emblem Heroes."

Those who want to view the upcoming Nintendo Direct event can tune in to twitch.tv/Nintendo or Nintendo.com/Nintendo-direct.
