"Sonic the Hedgehog" is making waves and coming in fast for the big screen, as a movie adaptation for everyone's favorite speedy hedgehog is happening and might see a 2019 release.

The movie will see production at Paramount Studios, where the production company itself has released a statement that the film is now in the works. As such, the movie will be directed by Jeff Fowler and it is worth noting that this is Fowler's directorial debut in Hollywood.

Meanwhile, the movie will be produced by "Deadpool" director Tim Miller and Neal H. Moritz, with a script from Pat Casey and Josh Miller. Being a video-game movie adaptation, "Sonic the Hedgehog" will incorporate both live-action and computer-generated imagery (CGI) media in order to drive the narrative with the protagonist most likely being CGI while some human-looking cast members such as the villainous Dr. Eggman will probably be played by live-action actors.

The casting also remains to be seen, meaning there is no voice or face animation talents yet for Sonic and friends or any actors for the live-action roles. This, however, should shortly be remedied now that the director and the executive roles in the production are taken with an intended release expectation.

There is also no script unveiled yet, meaning the plot and the story remain to be seen, for all fans know, any game in the franchise might as well be the source material. Though it is usually the most popular installment in the franchise or the origin story which gets the adaptation treatment.

For those unfamiliar with Sonic the Hedgehog, the character was created by Sega primarily as the main protagonist of a video game franchise of the same name. It originally consisted of 2D speed-based platforming games back in its conception. Sonic and his sentient and upright animal friends, Tails, Amy, and Knuckles, have their peaceful life constantly disturbed by the nefarious Dr. Eggman and his plans for world domination, which the gang must stop using their inherent powers.

The movie is set to be released on Nov. 15, 2019.
