'Sonic Forces' news: Hotfix patch released after widespread crashing issue

Sega is as quick as its blue hedgehog Sonic in fixing game bugs, as a hotfix update for "Sonic Forces" has been rolled out immediately following the problematic release of the game.

"'Forces' PC Players – we've just released an update that should fix most crashes. Please restart your game to ensure it's applied, and let us know if you run into any other issues," said a Sega development representative on Steam. This means that the update has already been issued and that the crashing problems associated with the initial version of the PC port have been fixed.

That said, despite the swiftness of the patch from the developers, some players are still reporting bugs and crashes. Some particular problems include stuttering cutscenes and old central processing units (CPU) having trouble. Some users have even reported that the game runs too slow, not for a Sonic game, but just in the general term for frame rate. Performance issues still persist for a lot of players based on the forum replies on Sega's post.

Still, it seems that the fix has worked for some. Meanwhile, others have taken it to their hands to resolve the issue and have proclaimed that playing the game in offline mode have eliminated their crash issues, which could mean that they might have been tied to the game being online.

The issue with the game has unfortunately angered a lot of players, with some assuming that the game did not even undergo proper quality assurance testing before getting a full release. Others have pointed out poor optimization on the PC version and expressed disappointment with the developers for releasing a troublesome game version.

Apparently, Sega still has a long way to go before fans and consumers change their minds about the game, and one update fix may not be enough, as the Steam reviews for the PC version of the game still have "Mixed" overall ratings with only 68 percent of the 813 reviewers giving a positive score.

The developers have yet to comment on the issue or announce further updates for the game.
