The surf's up for the enigmatic Silver Surfer from Marvel, as is finally headed for the silver screen following revelations from license owner Fox that a solo movie for the intergalactic character is on the way.

The yet-to-be-titled "Silver Surfer" movie is apparently being made in secret by Fox, though not so much a secret now, after the recent massive Disney buyout of $52.4 billion for the 21st Century Fox's movie and TV studios. This will eventually give a more free and creative rein for filmmakers to incorporate characters from the "X-Men" and "Fantastic Four" universe into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) owned by Disney and responsible for the "Avengers" and the group's individual members' solo movies.

For now, though, fans will have to make do with secret Fox projects that reportedly involve Noah Hawley's "Doctor Doom" movie, a secret "X-Men" spinoff movie, and of course "Silver Surfer." These are just a few among other secret and unannounced projects by Fox according to the source of The Hollywood Reporter.

As for the "Silver Surfer," the project is allegedly being written by Brian Keller Vaughan, best known for writing comic books "Saga" and "Runaways." Those who have been keeping track of Fox's troublesome "Fantastic Four" movies from 2005 and 2007 will recall that the Silver Surfer has already appeared in the 2007 film titled "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" but did not do the character justice.

Both "Fantastic Four" movies were also critically panned, hence maybe why "Silver Surfer" is getting a standalone movie for the future. Beyond the fact that a movie for the character is happening, no other details have been revealed.

For those unfamiliar with the Silver Surfer, he is actually a fan-favorite character who has made numerous appearances with the "X-Men," "Fantastic Four" and even with the "Avengers" in the comic books. He first appeared in the "Fantastic Four" universe and was originally an alien astronomer from the planet Zenn-La. He had to save his homeworld from planet devourer Galactus and in turn, was forced to be his servant and herald.

In doing so, he gained tremendous powers, a new silver humanoid body, and the ability to travel space using his silver surfboard-like craft that is faster than light. Fans can now expect a movie for him in the near future, depending on how Fox handles the title.
