'Shazam!' news: Zachary Levi finally reveals superhero costume

"Shazam!" has finally revealed his secret costume, as the main actor Zachary Levi has been spotted on the production set of the movie wearing the bright red superhero attire.

The photo was an unofficial leak and was posted on Twitter showing Levi talking to someone on set wearing the caped Shazam! costume. It should be noted that an official costume reveal is still to be expected, in which the suit will likely look better than the one in the leaked photo, because based on the photo, it looks as if it was cosplay-grade, especially compared with what the actors wore in "Justice League."

The leak does confirm what Shazam!'s costume will look like in the movie, as director David Sandberg claimed that it would take after the superhero's looks in the animated "Justice League: War." So that indeed means that Levi's Shazam! costume will have a hood to reinforce the fact that the superhero is a wizard with super-speed and super-strength. This also may have been an intentional choice since not having a hooded cape would make Shazam! look like a red Superman.

The costume's look might still change dramatically depending on how the production implements the lighting and special effects for the movie, so fans fearing that Levi's costume looks bland based on the leak need not worry too much. With the premature reveal of the costume though, it could only be a matter of time until the official costume photos are unveiled by the production team.

Fans will also note that to the left side of the leaked photo is actor Mark Strong standing near Levi. Strong is actually cast as Doctor Sivana, who is Shazam!'s nemesis enemy and has a large part to play in the movie. One can surmise that the leaked photo was perhaps a scene involving Sivana and Shazam!'s first meeting in the film, or perhaps even an action sequence since Levi is wearing the costume.

Fans who are eager for the official costume reveal with a front-facing Levi in "Shazam!" attire need only wait a bit more, especially since the movie's premiere will be on Apr. 5, 2019.
