'Shazam!' news: Superman actor Henry Cavill talks about Zachary Levi's Shazam suit

"Shazam!" is not yet in theaters but he and Superman are already having quite a competition, as Superman actor Henry Cavill comments on the costume of Zachary Levi, who plays the titular Shazam!

It can be recalled that Levi recently posted a photo of him on Instagram supposedly wearing his Shazam! outfit, where in actuality, he was wearing a coat on top of it, hiding the costume. Cavill noticed and even commented on Levi's Shazam! costume, saying, "Yours look so warm," referring to the winter coat which the latter put on top of his Shazam! costume.

To this Levi responded, "Well that's cuz mine is magic," in reference to Shazam!'s wizard powers and superhuman strength to match Superman's. This sparked off quite a level of fanbase enthusiasm for both superheroes, as the two have been constantly compared and matched up against each other over the decades since their conception. It seems Levi is keeping in the spirit of the open competitive rivalry between the two superheroes.

Still, a quick side-by-side comparison of the two superheroes in comic books and other media will reveal that their costumes are not that different from one another. Both are tight spandex-like materials that are supposedly indestructible, though Shazam!'s is bright red with white and gold trimmings and secondary colors. Also, he has a lightning insignia on his chest, just as Superman has a bright red "S."

It also seems likely that Levi's physique will now be identical or similar to that of Cavill, and that his hard work has definitely paid off for "Shazam!" The actor is also positive that he has what it takes to bring justice to the first live-action film adaptation of the superhero since unlike Superman, Shazam! is essentially a pre-pubescent boy in an adult superhero's body.

Fans who are expecting Cavill's Superman to appear in "Shazam!" will also probably have their excitement stoked due to the actor's activities tied to "Shazam!'s" production. It remains to be seen once "Shazam!" hits the theaters on Apr. 5, 2019.
