'Shazam!' news: New photos show bulky Zachary Levi as Shazam

Screengrab from the "Superman vs Shazam" feature from DC YouTube/DC

Fan of "Shazam!" wondering whether the main actor, Zachary Levi, is fit as the chosen one for the role will finally have their questions answered, as Levi has been seen in a Twitter photo with a sizable physique.

This should dispel doubts that Levi might not be able to get in shape for the role. The photo shows Levi in a sports stadium supposedly watching the Los Angeles Lakers' game on the current National Basketball Association (NBA) season. Levi was sitting with his friends where they have posed for what appears to be a post-game selfie.

The photo was from photographer Eric Blackmon, who is also Levi's friend, and he even wrote the caption, "I hate seeing the Lakers lose. Still had fun with @ZacharyLevi @isaiahmustafa and Bree." Blackmon is also known to have chronicled Levi's time at the gym where the actor trained to achieve a superhero body in time for the upcoming DC movie now that production for it has begun.

Granted, the photo only shows Levi's biceps, but compared to how they were months before he was cast as Shazam!, one can notice a significant improvement. Levi has also noticeably gained weight and is a lot bulkier now, which can be surprising for his fans especially since his previous roles portrayed him as a lanky and tall guy.

Apparently, the game they watched was between the Raptors and Lakers, and since "Shazam!'s" filming is currently taking place in Toronto, Canada, Levi and company were able to watch the match since the stadium was nearby. Fans can assume that Levi still has a lot of spare time in the set since production for "Shazam!" has only lasted for barely a week.

In any case, Levi bulking up for the role should make him comparable in size to Superman, as rumors point to the Henry Cavill's Man of Steel appearing in "Shazam!," possibly as the superhero's mentor since he is essentially just a kid who received godlike superpowers. "Shazam!" will be released on April 5, 2019.
