On Aug.8, fans of the Netflix series "Sense8" celebrated two happy occasions — the fictional birthday of all eight major characters of the show, and the season 2 renewal of the sci-fi series. The announcement was made via video posted on Netflix's Twitter, showing actors Jamie Clayton, Doona Bae, Aml Ameen and more singing renditions of "Happy Birthday."

"We are coming back," Bae said while standing in front of the Eiffel Tower. "Yay! Season 2! See you on Netflix!"

Many loyal viewers of the show were worried when the streaming service did not announce the season 2 renewal after its season 1 finale on June 5, as The Verge reported that most Netflix original series get renewed or cancelled soon after its first season. But with the renewal announcement out of the way, fans are now waiting for season 2 spoilers, and more importantly, when the new season will premiere on Netflix.

Netflixlife reports that no information has been given with regard to the new season's premiere, but if the show follows the same trend as its season 1 premiere, then it can be expected that "Sense8" will return to the streaming service sometime in June. The website reports that if season 2 airs on the first Friday of June, then the new season will be available for streaming on June 3, 2016.

"Sense8" is the story of eight individuals who live in different parts of the world who discovered that they are mentally and emotionally linked to each other, and later on, they found out that they can tap into each other's abilities and knowledge. Capheus (Ameen) is a driver in Nairobi; Will (Brian J. Smith) is a Chicago police officer; Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre) is an actor who lives in Mexico; Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) is a locksmith who lives in Berlin; Riley (Tuppence Middleton) is an Icelandic DJ based in London; Kala (Tina Desai) is a pharmacist who lives in Mumbai; Nomi (Clayton) is a trans woman blogger living in San Francisco; and Sun (Bae) is the daughter of a wealthy Seoul businessman who competes in the underground kickboxing world.

The series is written and produced by siblings Andy and Lana Wachowski, and J. Michael Straczynski.
