Samsung will have the most powerful chipset for their next flagship phone, the Galaxy S9.

The South Korean phone company has managed to form an exclusive partnership with the makers of the Snapdragon 845 processor, Qualcomm. Based on a Twitter post by Russian tech journalist Eldar Murzatin, Samsung's upcoming flagship phone will be powered by the next-generation chipset.

Competing phone companies may have to wait for an unknown amount of time before they can outfit their phones with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 for their own lines.

This is not the first time that Samsung has done such a thing. This move is what they did early this year when they launched Samsung. The South Korean tech company bought the first batch of the Snapdragon 835 processors in bulk, making the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus the first smartphones to run on the most powerful chipset in the market.

This move by Samsung forced other companies to wait it out until they could get the new chipset or launch new smartphones running on last-generation processors.

Aside from the new processor, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will reportedly have an active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) curved display with a pixel density of around 570 pixels per inch (ppi). The phone's operating system will likely be running on Android 8.0 Oreo and will have Cat 18 LTE support with a 1.2 Gbps download speed.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 will also have an embedded fingerprint scanner for protection and a dual rear-facing camera. It will also be outfitted with a dedicated Bixby AI assistant. The phone will also have a USB Type-C connection for charging and moving files.

There are no concrete details on the retail price of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus but if these units are anything like their predecessors, the new Samsung units are expected to have a price point of $900 to $1,000.

Reports have surfaced that Samsung has already started the production and manufacturing of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, so it's a big possibility that the devices will launch earlier than the Galaxy S8.

Insiders suggested that the phone company is planning launch the Galaxy S9 at next year's Mobile World Congress (MWC). This adds to the speculation that the display units will arrive next month with the final deliveries being estimated for January of next year.
