Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs news: Odd, red-tinted screen reported by South Korean users

Samsung to launch its latest Galaxy S8 device this week Samsung

While Samsung has yet to ship its latest flagship smartphone line, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, all over the world, those who already got hold of the early units in South Korea already found a problem with it upon release.

Reports reveal that several customers in the country who were given the chance to own the latest Samsung flagship smartphone after signing up for pre-order claim on social media that some of the Samsung Galaxy S8 devices come with a strange, red tint on the screens.

But a Samsung spokesperson reportedly told the South Korean media that the red tint could not be considered a quality issue; instead, users could opt to their device's settings menu to change its configuration.

The extent of the issue remains unknown, but it could post as another challenge for the South Korean technology and consumer electronics giant after it went through a worldwide public scrutiny after the battery exploding problem of its Galaxy Note 7 product line.

Meanwhile, other owners of the early editions of the Galaxy S8 noticed that the company has blocked the remapping ability of the dedicated Bixby button, the only button dedicated to turning on Samsung's exclusive digital assistant.

But according to reports, a Samsung representative confirmed on Twitter that the button remapping is just a temporary feature and it may not be an official function of the device in the coming days.

At the moment, Samsung is still holding off the release of the voice-controlled Bixby feature based on the statement given to The Verge.

According to the tech giant, the "Key features of Bixby, including Vision, Home, and Reminder, will be available with the global launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 on April 21. Bixby Voice will be available in the US on the Galaxy S8 later this spring."

This means that if Bixby's voice-control feature will not officially launch, the dedicated button will be useless and could go unused.

Samsung Galaxy S8 will be released in the US for $720 starting Friday, April 21, while those in the UK can purchase the device for £689.
