Former megachurch pastor Rob Bell has been tapped to host a new talk show on Oprah Winfrey's OWN channel.

The Rob Bell Show, premiering December 21, will explore positive and potentially life-changing themes in front of a live studio audience.

"Considered to be one of America's most influential and progressive spiritual leaders, New York Times best-selling author Rob Bell shines a bright light on the topics we most want to talk about but often don't know how to even approach.

"Through riveting conversations with a live audience, and by incorporating creative on-camera storytelling, Rob—as only he can—explores themes such as owning your story and wonder and awe."

Bell gained notoriety after the 2011 release of his book "Love Wins," in which he questioned the existence of hell. The resulting controversy led to Bell's resignation from Mars Hill Church, which he founded in 1999.

Splitting from the church also allowed the 44-year old to reach a more diverse audience, and The Rob Bell Show will not just be for churchgoers.

"Whether you're spiritual, religious, cynical or undecided, Rob invites you to wrestle with what it all means and why we find spiritual topics so fascinating," the network said.

Bell also appeared on Winfrey's "The Life You Want" tour this fall,  and called the cross-country excursion an incredible experience.

"It's awesome, that's my word for it," he told the Toledo Blade in September.

"My work has been predominantly talking to a room full of people about the things that matter most, as teacher, preacher, pastor.

"This tour for me is like coming home, like being in the zone, like pure joy. I'm having so much fun, a blast."
