'Rick and Morty' season 3 episode 2 release date, plot news: New episode coming in summer

"Rick and Morty" season 3 episodes to arrive summer Facebook/RickandMorty

As an April Fool's Day treat, Adult Swim released the premiere episode of the highly anticipated "Rick and Morty" season 3. But the network opted to hold the rest of the season after the surprising debut.

It seems like the network only intended to launch the premiere to tease fans about what they should look forward to when the animated series returns regularly for its third season.

While Adult Swim did not specify the exact release date of "Rick and Morty" season 3 episode 2, the network revealed through a trailer video that is posted on Facebook that the series will resume this summer.

Reports claim that the second episode of "Rick and Morty" season 3 will be called "The Rickshank Rickdemption." But the plot for the upcoming episode remains under wraps.

Meanwhile, series co-creator Dan Harmon clarified in a series of Twitter posts about his earlier statement on IndieWire regarding the "fights" that he was referring to when asked about the delay of "Rick and Morty" season 3.

"The 'fights' I refer to aren't 'the reason for the delay.' The 'fights' also aren't what you call a fight when you have one in your home or street." Harmon stated. "I'm talking about fights like 'what joke to do.' It's the statements back to back that's confusing: I was saying 'the buck stops with me and Justin.' It was our usual perfectionism, etc. Then, I was moving on, in trademark rambling, to try to express how hard and confusing it can be in a RAM writers room."

Harmon also mentioned that they just cannot reveal exact updates about their plans for the animated series because they are avoiding the instances where fans could bother the writers and artists who are busy working on the show. He also explained that the scheduling lies on Adult Swim, which is why they have no information to divulge.

More details about "Rick and Morty" season 3 are expected to be revealed soon.
