There has been very little news about "Power" since the show was renewed last June. While fans of the Starz series will have to wait a little more before the show returns, it has been confirmed that Anika Noni Rose will be joining the cast of season 3.

The "Dreamgirls" star and Tony award winner is joining the cast of "Power" for a multi-episode arc when the show returns to Starz next year. According to Deadline, Rose will be playing LaVerne Thomas, described as "a streetwise cop" from the neighborhood where Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and Tommy (Joseph Sikora) grew up.

While details about the upcoming season have been scarce, the show's official Facebook page posted an update back in October that shows the cast and crew filming the third season. In the video, Hardwick, Sikora, Naturi Naughton, Lela Loren, and Shane Johnson are dressed as their characters as they prepare for a day of filming for the series.

Loren said that season 3 "will be off the hook," while Hardwick teased that the season will be "dangerous" and "a season of consequences." When the show returns, fans will be in for a lot of surprising moments as some of the cast members said that even they don't know what's in store for the upcoming season.

The show tells the story of Ghost, a successful New York nightclub owner who also happens to be one of the major players in the city's drug trade. While he deals with work problems, Ghost also juggles his relationship with his wife, Tasha (Naughton), and his first love and mistress, Angela (Loren), who happens to be an Assistant U.S. Attorney investigating his drug syndicate.

"Power" was renewed a few days after the show's second season premiere logged 1.43 million viewers on June 6, making it the most ever for a Starz Original series season premiere episode.

In a statement, executive producer and star Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson said, "'Power' is a project that I have been passionate about. I am glad the audience loves the show as much as we do, and we are just getting started."

"Power" is slated to return to Starz in 2016.
