"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG)" has finally been released, and its creator Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene and his development team are excited about the future the genre.

"PUBG" has now left early access on Steam and is now officially a 1.0 version. With this, the developers of the game have also added a new desert map, a new instant replay function, and a slew of improvements and optimization to the game engine as well as the servers.

Following the successful release with no price hike from early access, the game's concurrent player count has skyrocketed to as much as 30 million people worldwide at the time of writing and is expected to grow even more in the coming months. The Xbox One version of the Battle Royale game will also be adding to those already impressive numbers.

Still, there is no rest for the developers of the game since Greene's partner, PUBG Corp CEO Chang Han Kim has stated, "When we first started this project and thought of the Early Access model, we never took it as a model where you start developing a game, you complete it, you ship it out and then be done with it. As long as we have fans out there playing our game, it will never be complete." This means they are now working hard on adding more to Steam's most popular game at the moment, and they are showing no signs of stopping.

Kim has also expressed that the indie early access approach has let them iron out the game's negative traits and refine the core gameplay of "PUBG," ensuring that players have a pleasant and fun experience with the multiplayer game. Kim has assured players that the current player count and 1.0 release status is just one of the many milestones that they are aiming for and they will continue to give back to the players who made everything possible. New content is to be expected in the near future of the game, and it will all apparently be free.
