When controversial rapper Kanye West and reality star Kim Kardashian needed someone they trusted to officiate their wedding, they called on their friend Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr to do the honours. And no

Now, Wilkerson is talking about why he asked his friend to get involved in his first foray into literature.

Wilkerson, who is the rapper's spiritual adviser, leads the 4,000-strong Rendezvous Church, also known as the Vous Church in Miami where he preaches and provides spiritual guidance to young adults on issues like racism, sex, repentance and sin.

In an interview with Rapzilla, the pastor explained that he asked Kanye to design his book cover because Kanye was someone who love Jesus and believes in the message of the book.

"I think the content of the book is what I believe to be life changing – the greatest message in the world, which is the gospel. it's not my message, it's Christ's message and we're just carriers of it but because the content is so rich, I wanted to make sure the cover had some sort of pull in. I wanted it to be great," he said.

Wilkerson added that he wanted the cover to appeal to even people who would not consider reading about Jesus. Even though the rapper is sometimes a polarising figure in the music industry, he is still one of the industry's most influential artists and the pastor's book has been drawing interest from a wide array of readers since it came out last November.

Aside from promoting his book and leading his ministry, Wilkerson also appears on the Oxygen Network show "Rich in Faith" with his wife DawnCheré.
