Ahead of the much-anticipated "Outlander" season 2 premiere, the show released a new promo showing series stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe talking about the upcoming season as well as some scenes from season 2.

In the promo, executive producer Ronald D. Moore said that Claire knows that the Jacobites and the highlanders were wiped out by the battle at Culloden Moor, and she urges Jamie to help her stop it by looking for the key players and finding a way to stop their plans.

In the clip, Heughan said that the two integrate themselves into the king's court. Balfe said that visually, season 2 is a different show from the previous season as some of the scenes are set in Versailles, which means that Claire and Jamie get to wear elegant clothes for their appearances at the palace.

But the actress said that neither Claire nor Jaime is comfortable with this new setup as they are forced to lie to everyone to achieve what needs to be done. Claire and Jamie also get into a huge fight as Jamie wants to kill Black Jack, but Claire is stopping him as his death will also mean that his descendant, Frank, will not exist.

Recently, Balfe and Heughan took some time off from filming in Scotland to promote the show at the Television Critics Association winter press tour last Friday, Jan. 8, in Pasadena, California. The two spoke about their characters' mindsets in the new season and even shared a few spoilers for upcoming episodes.

At the press tour (via TVLine), Heughan said that Jamie is still affected by the trauma of his rape by Black Jack Randall, but the actor said that it won't be the primary focus of the season.

"Time is a great healer, and ultimately, [Jamie] puts his whole body and soul into this mission about changing history," said Heughan

Meanwhile, Balfe said that she will be reunited with Frank Randall, her husband from the 1940s, this season, and that there will be "many layers of why that relationship is difficult when she goes back."

"She's definitely not the same woman that left," said Balfe.

"Outlander" season 2 returns this April on Starz.
