It has been a while since Netflix released the fourth season of "Orange Is the New Black," but the streaming service provider has yet to announce the release date of season 5.
At the end of season 4, the inmates of Litchfield Penitentiary were left in chaos after Poussey's (Samira Wiley) death. But more deaths are expected when the series returns for its fifth season.
Reports claim that the fate of one of the major characters will be at stake in season 5. According to reports, there is a possibility to see Piper (Taylor Schilling) die when the series returns next year.
The speculations stemmed from Schilling's interview with PopSugar after the actress revealed that she is not sure about Piper's state inside the penitentiary.
The character had been through a lot in the previous season, especially after she got branded by Ruiz (Jessica Pimentel) and earned the ire of her old friends when she became too arrogant. But Piper managed to reconnect with her old friends when they help her remove the brand. She also managed to get back with her on-again-off-again girlfriend Alex (Laura Prepon) towards the end of the season.
However, according to Schilling, there are a lot of changes in Piper's life in the upcoming installments of the series. "She's kind of moving further and further away from the idea of what she thought she was. She's becoming more practical," the actress stated. "She's becoming a creature of the prison, and there's no space for excess. Her only need is for survival, and brushing her hair doesn't really factor into the equation," she went on to say.
Fans of the Netflix Original series are also looking forward to seeing Daya (Dascha Polanco) reunite with the father of her child, John Bennett (Matt McGorry), next season. But there is no confirmation yet if the actor will return to the set of "Orange Is the New Black" season 5.
Netflix also has to confirm when the new episodes of "Orange Is the New Black" season 5 will arrive, but the series is expected to air sometime in 2017.
