It's been a month since One Direction confirmed that they are going on a one-year hiatus starting next year to focus on their individual careers. Before they go on their separate ways, though, a new report claims that the British boy band is in talks for one of the biggest gigs in the world.

According to the Daily Star, NFL bosses are working on putting together a "super star lineup" for the Super Bowl in February 2016 and are reportedly eyeing One Direction for a spot during the half time show. The sporting event is celebrating a significant milestone next year as it will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.

"NFL bosses want a super star lineup and 1D are very much in the mix," an insider told Daily Star.

The source added that executives want a "pop and rock mash-up" for the show and that Coldplay and Bruno Mars are in talks as well.

"With the band finishing, it would be the ultimate way for the band to say farewell to their fans," said the source.

Reps for One Direction have yet to comment on the report.

Last month, the band's fans were devastated when it was reported that Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan are going on their separate ways after their world tour. But Tomlinson, Horan, and Payne assured their fans in their respective Twitter accounts that the split is temporary and that they'll be back to make more new music together.

As for their individual projects, it was reported that Styles has written and recorded 20 songs for a new solo album. According to The Sun (via The Daily Mail), One Direction's label, Syco, is excited about the 21-year old's plans and is making sure that Style's solo career will be a success.

Meanwhile, Payne has talked about recording some songs and revealed in a new interview that he has written a few country songs and even some rap songs.

"If the right song comes along and I think I should sing it, then I will release it as a solo artist," Payne said.
