Odell Beckham Jr. injury news update: Wide receiver to miss the rest of the season

The New York Giants will miss the services of its prized wide receiver. Odell Beckham Jr. will be undergoing a surgery as per the advice of his doctors. The National Football League player injured his ankle during the game between the Giants and the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday, Oct. 8.

The operation is scheduled to happen this week, though no specific date has been disclosed yet. The Giants will have to soldier on for the remainder of the season as Beckham Jr. will be out for the rest of the football season, according to head coach Ben McAdoo.

Beckham Jr. joins other teammates who are also on the injured list, like Dwayne Harris, who figured into an accident during the same game, suffering an ankle injury in the process. Harris is slated to have his injury treated via surgery today. He will also miss the remainder of the football season due to his injury.

According to Bleacher Report, Beckham Jr. exited the game with five catches and 97 receiving yards, which is the 24-year-old's season high, as well as one touchdown against the Chargers.

In spite of starting his football season with a prior ankle injury, Beckham Jr. soldiered on and did not fail to perform excellently, producing 25 catches for 302 yards and three touchdowns in only four games.

Aside from Beckham Jr. and Harris, there are two more Giants players out due to injury. Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard also figured in ankle injury incidents during the game, but the prognosis for the two is hopeful and they will be able to help the team for the rest of the season.

Currently, Roger Lewis is the only wide receiver left that is not injured. The team is expected to make the necessary adjustments in order fill the position and help Lewis.

The Giants presently has a 0–5 win-loss record and are unlikely to make it to the playoffs this season. With four wide receivers down due to injury and most likely to sit out the remainder of the season, all eyes are on McAdoo to figure out a way to salvage their disappointing performance especially given their current state.
