Nun who sang with Kylie and won The Voice releases debut album

A singing nun is preparing to release her first album after wowing the judges and going on to win The Voice Italy.

A short teaser has been released by Universal, which signed Sister Cristina from the Ursuline order after she became an unlikely singing sensation on the hit TV show.

The clip shows the nun in the recording studio dressed in her full habit, while Alicia Keys' "No One", the song which propelled Sister Cristina to stardom after all four of the judges turned round to bid for her to be on their team, plays in the background.

The clip promises her album will be coming soon.

The nun's performances, which included a duet with Kylie Minogue, have gone viral on YouTube, with tens of millions of views.

Upon finding out that she won the show in the live final in June, Sister Cristina immediately thanked God; reciting an 'Our Father' prayer and declaring: "My presence here is not up to me, it's thanks to the man upstairs!

"I want Jesus to come in here!" she said.

According to The Telegraph, the nun – who trained at a music academy before joining the convent – told reporters that she would be returning to her Sisterly duties, despite having won a recording contract.

"I will go back to my priorities – prayer, waking up early in the morning, school service. That's fundamental for me to be able to begin something new later on," she said.

She also attributed her decision to join the show to Pope Francis, who has called for the Church to be close to ordinary people.

"I have a gift to give, and I am giving it to you, what can I do about that? Jesus has called upon me. It wouldn't be worth much if I kept it for myself."
