Nintendo Switch release date, price news: Switch to have price tag competitive with Xbox One and PlayStation 4?

Players might not have to shell out a lot of cash to be able to purchase the upcoming Nintendo Switch game console if the details from the latest leaked reports turn out to be true.

Reports found a now-removed product listing for Nintendo's newest gaming platform on Toys 'R Us Canada website, claiming that the Nintendo Switch will be sold for CAD329.99. When converted to the US dollars, the device might possibly have a price tag of around $250.

This could mean that the price of the new gaming platform from the Japanese gaming company will be less expensive compared to the price of the Xbox One S or the PlayStation 4 Slim during the 2016 Black Friday Sale.

If the leaked information turned out to be true, it means that Nintendo would want to offer their next gaming platform at a very competitive price in the market.

However, Nintendo earlier stated that they will not reveal any information about the Switch gaming platform until 2017. This probably suggested that the leaked pricing detail may not be accurate.

Meanwhile, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen told the audience present during the UBS Global Technology Conference that their game studio is preparing to develop several games for Nintendo Switch.

"We haven't yet announced what game, but you should assume that it's one of our bigger games," Jorgensen stated during the conference as spotted by GameSpot. "We're excited for Nintendo."

The EA executive also mentioned that Nintendo's upcoming gaming device could earn the interest of video game enthusiasts. But he cannot say how many people would be excited to have another portable device in the market.

EA is not the only gaming studio that signed up to create titles for Nintendo Switch. Other companies include Square Enix, Ubisoft, Capcom, Warner Bros, Bethesda, and Activision, among others.

More details are expected to be released about the Nintendo Switch before its actual arrival in March 2017.
