Nina Dobrev certainly knows how to have a good time as last month, the "Vampire Diaries" alum celebrated the Christmas and New Year holiday with a ski trip and a sky diving adventure with boyfriend Austin Stowell and a few of their close friends. This month, the actress celebrated her 27th birthday with an emoji-themed party on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Aventine Trattoria in Hollywood, and Stowell and the star's friends were present to celebrate the special day.

According to E! Online, Dobrev dressed up as a cat and donned a black cat suit and gold face paint for the party, while the "Whiplash" actor was dressed as a panda emoji. Guests include Dobrev's former co-star Kat Graham, as well as friends Nick Jonas, Chloe Bridges, Jessica Szohr, Adam DeVine, Chace Crawford, Hailee Steinfeld, and Julianne and Derek Hough.

A source told E! that Dobrev had a "great birthday."

"Nina was so happy so many of her close friends turned out. It was a big party," said the source. The insider added that Stowell and the actress were "really cute together" and that it was evident how much they cared about each other.

Meanwhile, a source told People magazine that the couple was taking pictures on their phone and in the photo booth at the party and that they seemed very happy and have "a really genuine connection." The insider added that while the two were very affectionate that night, Stowell also gave Dobrev some space to enjoy her special night with her friends.

The two were rumored to be dating last May and confirmed their relationship via Twitter in October. On Saturday, Stowell took to Instagram to wish his girlfriend a happy birthday as he posted a picture of him and Dobrev on a hike. The photo was captioned, "I think the Dos Equis guy said it best: 'I don't always post pictures, but when I do, it's of a unicorn.' Happy birthday to my favorite little Yankee fan!"
