'New Mutants' release date, spoilers, news: Film's main villain revealed?

The "X-Men" film spin-off movie, "New Mutants," officially a storyboard animatic for a scene, according to recent reports.

ComingSoon.net claimed that sources close to the 20th Century Fox film production who knows about the plans for the upcoming superhero movie provided an exclusive animatic from the film. The animatic reportedly revealed that fan-favorite villain Demon Bear will challenge the heroes of the movie.

The antagonist, who first appeared in Marvel Comics' "New Mutants #3," is described as a gigantic evil magical bear who gets his power from negative human emotion. He also reportedly has several extraordinary abilities such as teleportation, paranormal strength, as well as the ability to corrupt the soul of his opponents.

Based on the animatic for the upcoming film, several members of the New Mutants, such as Cannonball, Wolfsbane, and Magik, will take turns attacking the gigantic Demon Bear.

Sources also claim that the plot for the "New Mutants" could be described as a "Stephen King meets John Hughes" kind of horror movie.

Meanwhile, IGN claims that actor Nat Wolff, from the upcoming "Death Note" film, is being considered for the role of Sam Guthrie/Cannonball. The character reportedly has the ability to fly at an extraordinary speed while being surrounded by a force field that us hard to infiltrate.

Other casting rumors claim that "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams is also being tapped to portray the role of Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, while Tanya Taylor-Joy from "The Witch" is rumored to be perfect for the role of Illyana Rasputin/Magik.

The rest of the possible characters who will be brought to the screen in the "New Mutants" film adaptation include Dani Moonstar/Mirage and Roberto da Costa/Sunspot. The film is expected to begin filming in early 2017 if it will be released in the cinemas by spring 2018. However, there are also rumors claiming that the Josh Boone-directed movie will be released on March 2, 2018.
