New 'James Bond' movie news: Christopher Nolan says he won't direct next Bond movie

"Batman" movie franchise director Christopher Nolan does not want a bond with the "James Bond" franchise, as the filmmaker has declared that he does not want to direct the 25th "James Bond" movie.

This was quite sad for some fans of both the director and the franchise since a lot of Nolan's work involved influences from the "Bond" franchise, most notably the "Dark Knight" trilogy and "Inception," as well as some of his earlier films. It was Nolan himself who stated that the possibility of him directing a "Bond" film is remote.

The 47-year-old director has stated that "I won't be the man. No, categorically. I think every time they hire a new director I'm rumoured to be doing it. I'd love to make a 'Bond' film at some point and I think those producers — Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [Wilson] — they do a tremendous job and Sam Mendes has done a terrific job the last couple of films, so they don't particularly need me. But I've always been inspired by the films and would love to do one someday." This was during his BBC Radio 4 interview.

Nolan did state that he is very much interested and that he may even be the director that the franchise deserves, but not the one it needs right now, due to the already robust creative talent pool of the franchise. This makes Bond fans quite puzzled as to who will be the next director for the upcoming "Bond" film, which is somehow quite as important as the actor for Bond himself (still Daniel Craig at the moment).

With director Sam Mendes exiting the franchise now, the next new director for a "Bond" movie proves to be an interesting prospect that is up for debate. It can be assumed that production has not yet begun or is still in the earliest stages since there has been no announced director yet, while the yet-to-be-titled "James Bond 25" starring Daniel Craig as Bond is set to premiere in Nov. 2019.
