The nominees for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards were announced on Tuesday, July 21, and Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Beyoncé are leading the pack with the most nods for one of music's biggest nights.
Swift received nine nominations for the 2015 MTV VMAs, with seven nods for "Bad Blood." The futuristic music video — which boasts a star-studded cast made up of Selena Gomez, Cindy Crawford, Mariska Hargitay, Ellen Pompeo, Lena Dunham, Cara Delevingne, and Karlie Kloss, among others — also nabbed a nomination for the most coveted award of the night, which is the Video of the Year. Swift's "Blank Space" is nominated for both Best Female Video and Best Pop Video categories.
Swift took to Instagram on Tuesday to post a throwback picture of her first day of fight training for "Bad Blood" and wrote, "Thank you so much for the 9 nominations. You can vote for Video of the Year NOW!!!"
Meanwhile, Swift's good friend, British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, earned six nominations, three for "Thinking Out Loud" — which is up for Video of the Year — and three for "Don't."
Sheeran thanked everyone on Tuesday for the nominations, tweeting, "Fanks for the 6 VMA nominations. I like moon men."
Beyoncé scored five nominations, including Video of the Year, Best Female Video, and Best Pop Video for "7/11."
Also up for Video of the Year is Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk," which features Bruno Mars. The video is also nominated for Best Male Video, Best Pop Video, and Best Collaboration.
The MTV Video Music Awards will be hosted by Miley Cyrus. The "Wrecking Ball" singer posted a split-photo on Twitter on Monday, one showing her wearing an alien costume with a sandwich board that reads, "MTV won't let me perform," and another picture of her revealing the message, "So I'm hosting this year's VMAs!"
The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 9 p.m.
