This week on "Modern Family," Claire (Julie Bowen) is determined to show Haley (Sarah Hyland) and Alex (Ariel Winter) what the family business is all about, Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) disagree on whom to invite to a party, while Gloria (Sofia Vergara) takes on jury duty.

In the episode titled "The Verdict" which will air on Wednesday, Oct. 21, Claire is excited to give Haley and Alex a great experience for "Bring Your Daughter to Work Day" but the staff is not making it easy. It can be recalled that when Claire started working for her father, the older, more seasoned workers in the closet factory seemed to resent that she was there. But after a while, she was able to earn their respect. However, Haley and Alex's arrival at the office may cause some of the staff to think that a Dunphy invasion is imminent, so it's possible that they could create some mischief just to mess with Claire's idea of a perfect day.

Meanwhile, Gloria takes on jury duty, and Jay (Ed O'Neill) has to help out at Joe's preschool while Gloria is in court. While some people would think of ways to avoid being on a jury, Gloria couldn't be more proud to have been summoned.

In the promo trailer for "The Verdict," Gloria says, "It is a privilege to serve on a jury." But she appears to be enjoying the experience a little too much and starts issuing verdicts in court, as she points out to the accused and tells the judge, "He's guilty—and so is the guy behind him!" The judge sighs and dismisses Gloria's statement, but she won't let it go.

The accused is seen rising from his chair and hurriedly walking away from it, and Gloria yells, "You did it! He's getting away!"

Apparently, the judge thinks that Gloria's behavior was due to the fact that she wanted to be dismissed from the jury, as he tells her, "Lady, you can stop acting crazy, you got out."

"Modern Family" airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
