When fans last saw Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) on "The Mindy Project," she was expecting a baby, and Danny (Chris Messina) made the trip to India to introduce himself to Mindy's parents. In season 4, more details will be revealed about Mindy's parents, while Mindy will find herself living in an alternate universe as the wife of a reality show producer played by Joseph Gordon Levitt.

In the new trailer released by Hulu, Danny shows up at Mindy's parents' home in India, and he tells them that he's in love with their daughter. Mindy is also seen nursing her baby on the train, which disturbs some of the male passengers. When Danny asks the Lahiris how things are "done" in India regarding his situation with Mindy, Mindy's dad says that they usually cut off the man's head, which makes Danny very nervous.

In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Matt Warburton revealed some spoilers about the new season and gave the scoop about Mindy's parents. Warburton said that when it came to creating the characters, they took Mindy's personality and "extracted two different threads" which resulted to two very different people.

Mr. Lahiri (Ajay Mehta) is described as "a serious guy who's a scientist, is really smart, very hard-working, and loves Boston." Warburton said that Danny now has to make sure that he gets his approval with regard to his relationship with Mindy.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Lahiri (Sakina Jaffrey) is described as a character who grabs the spotlight any chance she gets to do so.

"What we find out is she's gone back to India for a while to try to finally make her Bollywood dreams come true and has dragged her husband along," Warburton said.

He also mentioned that Mindy and Danny's little one will make an appearance "earlier than people think."

"We felt like the audience deserved to see it pretty quick," he said.

"The Mindy Project" premieres its fourth season on Tuesday, Sept. 15, on Hulu.
