It's the tail end of 2016, but Meizu is throwing its hat into the smartphone arena as it is set to unveil its latest flagship. The tech manufacturer's biggest rivals, Xiaomi and Huawei, have already released their high-end handsets last month, but Meizu has a surprise in store for tech watchers as it will be releasing three versions of the M5 Note next month.

According to Phone Arena, Meizu sent out invitations earlier this week that will see the unveiling of the M5 Note. The invitation indicates that the phone will be officially announced on Dec. 6. No photos of the upcoming device were included on the invites, but a picture of the current smartphone, the M3 Note, can be seen on the cards.

The handsets' specs were leaked last week after the M5 Note obtained its TENAA certification in China. According to reports, the smartphone will have a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The M5 Note will be powered by a MediaTek P10 chipset with an octa-core central processing unit and the Mali-T860 MP2 graphics processing unit. It will reportedly have a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, and comes preinstalled with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The phone will come in three variants: a model with 2 GB of random access memory and 16 GB of internal storage; a version with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory; and a model with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native memory. All variants will come with a microSD slot, allowing users to expand their phone's storage up to 128 GB. Each device will also come with different batteries. It was said that one of the phones will have a 4,000 mAh battery, while the other two will be powered by a 3,920 mAh cell.

As for the M5 Note's price, it is expected that the device will start at about $150. Stay tuned for more news about the Meizu M5 Note.
