Mario/Rabbids Crossover on Nintendo Switch rumors: Snowdrop Engine-powered game coming late 2017?

Will Nintendo and Ubisoft release a "Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle" video game? Facebook/rabbids

Ubisoft is reportedly developing the rumored "Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle" for Nintendo Switch.

A source reportedly told Kotaku that the game developer collaborated with Nintendo to come up with a bizarre crossover role-playing game that is expected to be released sometime in August or September this year.

According to the source, the rumored game will be developed using Ubisoft's proprietary game engine called Snowdrop. This is the same engine used for the online-only open world video game "Tom Clancy's The Division."

The report also claimed that the upcoming game will feature several selling points, including a turn-based combat, a two-player local co-op, as well as "Super Mario" game franchise's signature sense of humor.

The upcoming game will also feature eight playable characters, including the legendary plumber Mario and his loyal friends Luigi, Yoshi, and Peach as well as four Rabbids that will be wearing the skins of all the four "Super Mario characters."

A separate report from GameRant revealed that players will not be allowed to control the said characters directly. Instead, they will be able to regulate them using a small floating dish called Tuttorio. However, the source of the report did not mention if the said feature will have an online or local multiplayer support options.

Another report noted that the August or September release period could be possible since both "Splatoon 2" and "ARMS" are expected to be released in the newest Nintendo Switch consoles by June and July respectively. These means that there is enough time for the upcoming "Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle" to be released in the expected schedule.

Nintendo Switch was first released in the market in early March 2017. It works as a hybrid video game console that one can use at home or as a portable gaming device.

Both Ubisoft and Nintendo are still mum about development of the said game at this point.
