'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe' features, gameplay: 'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe' fastest-selling title in 'Mario Kart' series

Nintendo's recently launched first-party title "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" launched last week. The title, which is a switch port of 2014's "Mario Kart 8," was well-received by the series' patrons.

Like "Mario Kart 8," the Deluxe version of the game offers the same core game mechanics. It, however, features updated Battle Modes, new levels, and characters. To add, players will find new in-game items in the title.

The latest installment to the go-kart-style racing video game boasts about 50 tracks. But one particular track stands out among the rest, according to Nintendo producer Kosuke Yabuki. The producer's favorite track is called Rainbow Road.

"My favorite part is how the two routes form an intertwined spiral before heading into the final corner," Yabuki reveals in an interview with Nintendo UK. "The design allows for lots of different tactical gameplay depending on your items and the situation around you, such as changing your route or taking a shortcut between the two paths of the spiral."

The game producer shares that they wanted to revamp the track and make it into a futuristic version. Thus, the developers ended up adding anti-gravity controls and space suits. In the game, players will be able to catch intergalactic toads wearing space gear.

Rainbow Road has been dubbed the best track in the game. Aside from this, Hyrule Circuit, Mount Wario, and Bowser's Castle are a few of the top favorite tracks.

"Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" has been quite a success, selling over 456,000 during the launch day alone. To date, the title is the fastest-selling installment in the "Mario Kart" series. The latest title outsold "Mario Kart Wii," which was launched back in 2008. It sold over 433,900 copies on launch day.

"Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" is now available on Nintendo's hybrid console, the Switch. The game was launched on Friday, April 28.

More updates should arrive soon.
