Macbook Pro 2013 release date September: Apple offers $200 off, $100 in App Store gift card before new line

Apple is preparing to launch its refreshed line of Macbook Pro 2013 notebooks by offering savings up to $300 to clear its stock of last year's model.

The Cupertino-based company is offering a special education pricing giving students $200 off of the 2012 Macbook Pro laptops. The Macbook Pro with 2.5 GHx dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB memory, 500GB hard drive and Intel HD Graphics 4000 is being offered for just $999 to anyone with a valid '.edu' email address.

On top of the $200 Apple Mac Education savings, Apple is offering a $100 App store gift card for any laptop purchase. This means that buyers will receive $300 worth of savings to buy last year's model.

Other retail stores that stock Apple's inventory from last year are also promoting Macbook Pro/Air sales. Bestbuy is currently offering up to $150 off on select 2012 Macbook Pro notebooks.

Meanwhile, MacMall is selling the 13 inch Macbook Pro with Retina Display, dual core Intel Core i5 2.5GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB flash storage, Intel HD Graphics 4000 for just $1,399. 99. That is a 30% savings of $599, down from $1,999.99.

But Apple's offer seem to be the best deal for students if they choose to buy the present Macbook Pro model before the launch of the latest line next month. The 13 inch Macbook Pro with 2.9 GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB ram, 750 GB hard drive and Intel HD Graphics 4000 is also being offered with a $200 Mac Education discount - $1,299 (down from $1,499).

Apple is expected to launch its new line of 2013 Macbook Pro notebooks next month, possibly at the purported Apple event rumored to take place Sept. 10. The refreshed line is set to come with the all new Intel Haswell processor, which is featured with the 2013 Macbook Air models, released in June this year. The Haswell processor not only speeds up the notebook but prolongs the battery life.

Apple's next generation flagship iPhone 5S and a cheaper model with various color options (iPhone 6/ 5C) are also expected to launch at the keynote event in September.
