Kristen Stewart news: Actress weighs in on future 'Twilight' reboots

Kristen Stewart had a mini "Twilight" reunion with one of her co-stars earlier this week. The actress brought her good friend, Taylor Lautner, to the Los Angeles premiere of her movie "American Ultra" on Tuesday, Aug. 18. The pair starred in all five "Twilight" movies together as Bella and Jacob, and three years after the final film, "Breaking Dawn Part 2," it looks like the two are still close friends.

Fans were delighted as the two posed together on the red carpet, with Stewart dressed in a sequined Zuhair Murad's Resort 2016 collection and black Jimmy Choo heels, while Lautner wore a white shirt under a blue blazer and black pants.

The movies, based on Stephenie Meyer's best-selling novels, catapulted both actors to stardom, along with their other co-star and Stewart's ex, Robert Pattinson. But is Stewart open to reprising her role as Bella Swan again?

The actress was recently asked how she feels about a "Twilight" reboot. Speaking to Mike Ryan of Uproxx, she asked for clarification, saying, "Are they saying that they have to redo them? Like we have to do them again?"

The actress said that if the reboot happens with a new cast, then she's open to that possibility.

Of the series, Stewart said, "I was so genuinely, heavily entrenched in that, and not in a way that felt like an obligation." She added that she "loved" being in the films, "but that doesn't mean I want to keep doing it."

"But with other people? Yeah, sure. To be honest with you: I would be interested. I'd be kind of fascinated, but it wouldn't emotionally affect me one way or another," she said.

Though the films were very popular, Stewart got a lot of criticism for her portrayal of Bella. The "Panic Room" star said that she feels that anything popular in the U.S. ultimately gets subjected to criticism, and that when the public doesn't deem it worthy, then people get vindictive.

Stewart recently proved that there's more to her than Bella Swan when she became the first American actress to win a Cesar Award (the French equivalent of the Oscars) for her performance in "Clouds of Sils Maria." Fans can see her on this month's "American Ultra" which premieres on Aug. 21.
