A groundbreaking documentary, created by filmmakers led by the Holy Spirit, will be released on Saturday, September 6.

Simply entitled "Holy Ghost", the film explores how the Holy Ghost works through people and leads them on a path to righteousness.

"Finger of God" director Darren Wilson said that he embarked on this film with no script, planned locations, or set cast.

"This is a movie about risk," Wilson said in the trailer. "I wanted to take the greatest risk possible as a filmmaker: To make a movie that is completely led by the Holy Spirit. No plan, no safety net... just show up wherever he needs me, find the adventure, and make God famous."

Some famous friends did join Wilson along the way, including rocker and actor Lenny Kravitz, contemporary Christian musician Michael W Smith, and members of nu metal band Korn.

Others in the film include Pastor Bill Johnson of Bethel Church, author and theologian RT Kendall, VeggieTales creator Paul Vischer, and pastor and OWN "Super Soul Sunday" star DeVon Franklin.

"I come from an artistic home, and I've always believed that the best art is the most fearless art," Wilson said in a statement. "That's why I am never interested in playing it safe or avoiding controversy as a filmmaker.

"When I decided to make a movie about this largely unknown subject, it was clearly understood that we would be pushing boundaries, both for Christian and non-Christian audiences alike."

The film was supported by over 2,000 people on Kickstarter, and raised over $350,000 in just 45 days. The project's goal was $200,000.

"Holy Ghost" will be released for free on Bethel.TV this Saturday, and there will be over 600 showings of the film across the world. Wilson and Christian praise and worship band Jake Hamilton and the Sound will attend 14 of the showings during their "Holy Ghost Premiere Tour," for a unique, family-friendly, movie and concert experience. Tour tickets are $5.

Does the Church of England need to re-think its messaging?

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
