Kirk Cameron continues to share good news on Facebook, despite his newest film, "Saving Christmas," being voted the worst movie of all time on entertainment database IMDB.
The film received 1.5 out of 10 stars from over 5,000 IMDB users. Despite the negative online reviews, "Saving Christmas" remains in theatres through the support of thousands of fans.
Cameron has consistently promoted the project through his Facebook page, and continues to do so after receiving the disappointing movie ranking.
On Sunday, the actor and producer shared Isaiah 9:6: "For unto us a Son is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulders. And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." He also reminded fans that the movie is still showing in an increasing number of theatres.
"God filled the earth with trees of all different sizes and shapes and colours," Cameron captioned one photo. "God made trees that were full of delicious and beautiful fruit. God uses trees to beautify, to decorate, to light the world, and to accomplish his purposes.
"You will never look at a Christmas tree the same way after you see 'Saving Christmas'!"
In "Saving Christmas," Cameron's sister's annual Christmas party is nearly ruined by her husband, Christian, who lacks the Christmas spirit. Cameron shows his brother-in-law that God is present in Christmas celebrations, and explains the true reason for the holiday season.
The Christian film has been celebrated by Cameron's fan base, but derided by many others online. "Saving Christmas" currently has a zero per cent rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 32 per cent rating from over 19,000 people.
When the ratings began to free fall two weeks ago, Cameron urged his fans to "storm the gates" of Rotten Tomatoes to bolster the numbers.
"All of you who love Saving Christmas – go rate it at Rotten Tomatoes right now and send the message to all the critics that WE decide what movies we want our families to see!" he wrote on Facebook.
"If 2,000 of you (out of almost 2 million on this page) take a minute to rate Saving Christmas, it will give the film a huge boost and more will see it as a result! Thank you for all your help and support in putting the joy of Christ back in Christmas!"
