American actor Kirk Cameron, best known for his role as Mike Seaver from the ABC sitcom "Growing Pains," is travelling to different churches in the United States as part of the "Love Worth Fighting For" national marriage tour.

In promoting the importance of God-centred marriages, he recently shared with The Christian Post some key advice on how to build a strong and lasting marriage.

"A lot of people don't know that marriage comes with instructions," Cameron said. "And, we find them right there in God's Word."

Cameron said husbands are supposed "to love their wives and not to tell their wives that they need to submit to them." However, wives must respond in kind by respecting their husbands and following their lead.

"Wives are to honour and respect and follow their husbands' lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband," Cameron continued. "When each person gets their part right, regardless of how their spouse is treating them, there is hope for real change in their marriage."

Cameron has already visited over 200 churches in the U.S. during his seven-year stint with the tour. He has been married to fellow actress Chelsea Noble since 1991, and they have six beautiful children together.

Just recently, Cameron took his two daughters to prom and he got very emotional thinking how fast time flew. "My two little girls are now beautiful young women and I could hardly believe it," he said on his Facebook video page.

Cameron is certain that he is just going to "blink," and when he opens his eyes again, he will be dancing to "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle during his daughters' weddings. By then, he will be "crying my eyes out while wondering where all the time went."

He then advised parents to love their kids and spend all the time they can in raising their children because "it is so worth it."
