American actor Kevin Sorbo, best known for his titular role in the TV series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys," thinks that Jesus Christ would prefer Republican nominee Donald Trump to win this year's U.S. presidential race as opposed to Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton.

When TMZ caught up with the actor recently at Los Angeles International Airport, he was asked who he believed Jesus would support in the upcoming presidential race.

"Well, I would have to say Trump," Sorbo answered, explaining that Trump was "the lesser of two evils."

Sorbo said Clinton is worse not only compared to Trump, but also to discredited former President Richard Nixon of Watergate fame.

"Every time I ask a Democrat what has Hillary done, they have never, ever had a good answer. They have zero answers," he said. "She has more scandals around her than Nixon ever had. Watergate is a joke compared to what's going on in the White House today."

This was not the first time Sorbo talked about politics. The actor said a lot of people actually get upset when he voices his political views, but he feels the need to stand up for the truth.

"I certainly get into trouble in Hollywood for some of the things I say, but I am one of the true independent voices in Hollywood," Sorbo said. "I look at both sides of the aisle, look at who's going to really help this country... things aren't going that great right now. I think that's very obvious to most people."

Aside from portraying Hercules, Sorbo took part in the 2014 faith-based film "God's Not Dead," where he played an atheist professor. He also wrote his own memoir entitled "True Strength: My Journey from Hercules to Mere Mortal – and How Nearly Dying Saved My Life."
