Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have been focused on their respective music careers as both of them released new albums last year. While both Bieber's "Purpose" and Gomez's "Revival" made it to the top of the Billboard charts, fans still couldn't help but focus on their on-and-off relationship even though they appear to have finally called it quits in December 2014.

Speaking with W magazine, the former Disney star said that at first she didn't care about the constant scrutiny of her personal life.

"To me, it was: I'm 18, I have a boyfriend, we look cute together, we like that. Then I got my heart broken and I cared," said Gomez. "I was kind of in a corner, banging my head against the wall. I didn't know where to go."

After the interview was published, a source told Hollywoodlife that it made the "Baby" singer sad to read what his ex-girlfriend had to say about him, and that he's sorry that he broke her heart.

"He still fully regrets breaking her heart and how he handled everything," said the insider, adding that it haunts the 21-year-old to know that the singer-actress will never truly know how he wishes he could redo the past. "He admits he was young and immature."

While the two are said to have crossed paths several times after their breakup, the last time that they were seen together was back in November at the bar of the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills. Bieber was seen serenading Gomez with his version of "My Girl" while playing the hotel's piano, and later they were seen walking along the streets of Beverly Hills.

In a previous interview with Access Hollywood (via People), Bieber said that he doesn't know if he is over his relationship with Gomez, and while they went their separate ways, he is "never going to stop loving her" and "checking on her."

As for Gomez, she told W that she is "done" with the "Girlfriend" singer.

"I'm so exhausted," she said. "I honestly am so done. I care about his health and well-being. But I can't do it anymore."
