Johnny Depp 2017 news: Source claims the actor was not drunk at the premiere

Actor Johnny Depp has stepped back from the limelight this year, making people wonder what he had been busy with lately. But, his recent appearance, which saw the 54-year-old reportedly drunk, was instantly picked up by fans.

During the premiere of his movie "Murder on the Orient Express" in London, much of the photos that surfaced saw Depp, who plays Edward Ratchett in the film, in a disoriented state. Many fans took note of how he was being assisted by his bodyguard Jerry Judge, especially when he came close to his fans at the red carpet at the Royal Albert Hall on Nov. 2, Thursday.

Sources also claimed that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star reeked of alcohol during the premiere night, which was also graced by co-stars Penelope Cruz, who plays Pilar Estravados, and Dame Judi Dench (Princess Dragomiroff). Depp came to the premiere wearing a black tuxedo and a loose tie, but what grabbed everyone's attention was how he was always being held by his bodyguard.

That said, one insider slammed and denied the reports, saying to E! Online, "These reports are completely false. Johnny was not drunk at the premiere. He came straight from set to the premiere." The source also added that the bodyguard had always done this act through the years.

Meanwhile, fans also continued to criticize the actor for Friday's stint on the "Graham Norton Show," where he talked about his plan of being a Captain Jack Sparrow Statue in Disneyland. Some even alleged that Depp was high or intoxicated while on the show.

Others were quick to cite the rollercoaster ride Depp has recently been in, following his controversial breakup with Amber Heard in May 2016. Heard filed for divorce and had accused the "Edward Scissorhands" star of domestic abuse. Depp had denied the allegations thrown at him. The former couple reached an agreement; a report said Depp ended up paying Heard $7 million.
