'John Wick' series news: Keanu Reeves to be the executive producer of the show

Keanu Reeves just cannot seem to get enough of his role as "John Wick" and will now supervise "The Continental," the television series based on the franchise universe where a complex and sophisticated underworld of assassins thrive.

Despite not being the star of the series, Reeves' Wick may still show up as a guest or cameo in the show. So, fans might see him show up from time to time, though his role in the series is still unclear. Reeves will also be overseeing the show as an executive producer; this was after having his two successful "John Wick" movies which have set the bar for action films.

Reeves will then be working with Chad Stahelski, who co-directed the first "John Wick" and directed the second one, on the premiere episode, while the series writer and showrunner would be Chris Collins who also worked on "Sons of Anarchy" and the highly acclaimed "The Wire." This means that the series is headed in a spectacular direction, and viewers and fans can even expect the action sequences to be on par or as visceral as those in the film.

"'The Continental' promises to include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick movie franchise, as well as introduce some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world," claimed Chris Albrecht, CEO of Starz network, the host domain of the upcoming assassin TV show.

For those who have not seen either of the "John Wick" movies or have read the graphic novels, "The Continental" is the name of a hotel network/hitman association which was instrumental in the success of Wick in both movies. The Continental serves not only as a satellite for hitmen but also a neutral ground where no hits or murders can be committed without facing overwhelming consequences, as per the rules of the shady association.

This is what the upcoming show will be about, but right now, there is no premiere date in sight, so fans are advised to stay tuned for Starz's announcements.
