Jinger Duggar's new beau Jeremy Vuolo is not as squeaky clean as he appears, but the soccer player is not afraid to own up to his past mistakes and find redemption through God's forgiveness.

It was InTouch that revealed that Vuolo, who plays goalkeeper for the San Antonio Scorpions, has a criminal past. He was previously arrested for "acting belligerent and shouting obscenities" at a police officer. He was charged with harassment at the Oneonta Police Department, and Vuolo was released to a friend after the incident. No extra details were provided regarding the harassment case, but Vuolo was forced to pay a $250 fine for his actions.

Instead of staying mum regarding the matter, Vuolo owned up to what he did and expressed optimism that there are better things in store for him in the future.

"I was part of the college party scene and was living foolishly," he said. "I'm not perfect, but I sought out accountability and I now see great victory in my life."

Jinger and Vuolo earlier announced their courtship on the Duggar family's blog. "As opposed to a more casual dating relationship, we really want to honour the Lord, and be very intentional about how we move forward," Jeremy explains in their video announcement.

"I met Jeremy last May and then we had the opportunity to go on a mission trip together," Jinger shares. "It was there that I really saw his heart and admired his character."

Their relationship only became official after Jeremy approached Jinger's dad Jim Bob Duggar and asked his permission to get to know his daughter better. "We are very excited to begin this journey together, and for you to join us along the way," Jeremy adds.

Jinger is the fifth Duggar child to go into courtship. Her eldest brother Josh was the first to court his wife Anna, then Jill was courted by Derick Dillard. Jessa was next to enter courtship with Ben Seewald. All three courtships ended in marriage. On the other hand, Jinger's younger brother Josiah courted Marjorie Jackson last year, but their romance fizzled out and they decided to remain just friends.
