Jinger Duggar's new boyfriend Jeremy Vuolo says faith is a big part of his life

Who is Jeremy Vuolo? The 28-year-old soccer player, who is the goalkeeper for the San Antonio Scorpions, was thrust into the limelight after he announced his courtship with Jinger Duggar, 22, from "19 Kids and Counting" and "Jill and Jessa: Counting On," on Monday, June 20.

There are already some known facts about the athlete, such as his background in Downington, Pennsylvania, according to Us Magazine. He later flew to New York to attend Hartwick College, then transferred and graduated from Syracuse University.

Jeremy initially played for the Major League Soccer club New York Red Bulls in 2012. The year after that, he signed with the San Antonio Scorpions in the North American Soccer League.

His athletic prowess might be great, but one important detail that should not be missed about the Northeastern athlete is his deep-rooted faith in God. Instead of focusing mainly on his soccer career, he even took a break from the sport to go on a missionary trip in the Philippines.

He talked about this experience in a video posted by A Cru Ministry back in February 2013, and shared just how important faith is to his life.

"As an athlete, everyone knows you're going to suffer disappointment or experience joy and successful moments. But there is going to be both. Everybody knows that as an athlete, especially in life as well. It's how you deal with it that's important," he said.

"I've slowly been learning how to deal with that. I think it really comes down to having your base identity being in something other than your skill, yourself, the circumstances around you. My identity needs to be in something that never changes — and that's Jesus Christ. It begins and ends with having that foundation in Christ," he added.

TLC has confirmed that Jinger and Jeremy's relationship will play out in the second season of "Jill and Jessa: Counting On."

In the video announcing their courtship this week, Jeremy explained their attitude going into the courtship: "As opposed to a more casual dating relationship, we really want to honour the Lord, and be very intentional about how we move forward."
