Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar debunk divorce rumours, offer 5 tips for a happy marriage

The gossip mill has been rife with stories that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar from the former TLC show "19 Kids and Counting" are getting a divorce because their marriage cannot allegedly handle the strain caused by their eldest son Josh's sexual abuse and infidelity scandals.

However, the Christian couple would like to debunk those rumours. They even shared five tips on how they were able to maintain a happy marriage through all these years.

"We recently were asked to share with a group of couples the keys we have learned over the past 32 years in pursuing a dynamic marriage," the couple wrote on their Facebook page. "We are more in love today than when we married almost 32 years ago! By God's grace, our marriage is the strongest and sweetest it has ever been!"

Jim Bob and Michelle have received lots of important tips on how to preserve their marriage, but there are five things that really stood out for them. The first is that couples should individually pursue a close relationship with Jesus. "The closer we each get to God, the closer we each get to each other," they said.

The second tip they shared is that it is important never to let the sun go down on one's wrath. "Don't let offenses build up, but apologize and make things right quickly," they explained.

Jim Bob and Michelle never put each other down as well, and refuse to resort to negative name calling because they know these things will hurt their marriage. What the couple likes to do is praise each other with a grateful spirit.

The fourth thing they advised is that couples should go on regular dates and simply enjoy each other's company.

Lastly, they would like people to read the book "His Needs, Her Needs" by Willard F. Harley to know more about the ways to preserve marriage.
