"iZombie" ended its first season on a surprising note, with enterprising zombie Blaine (David Anders) being turned back into a human, Major (Robert Buckley) narrowly escaping being turned into a zombie, and Liv (Rose McIver) dealing with a difficult decision as she chose not to give her brother her blood to save him because doing so would reveal her secret to her family.

Executive producer Rob Thomas told TVLine that when the show returns, fans can expect some changes, particularly with Blaine, and that things will still be tense between Major and Liv after what happened last season.

"Liv is not avoiding Major, but Major is avoiding Liv," said Thomas.

The producer revealed that in the first episode, Liv tries to get in touch with him because Clive (Malcolm Goodwin) is still investigating the Meat Cute case. Major is her alibi, and while she does all she can to try to reach out to her ex-fiance, Major also does all he can to avoid her.

Thomas added that the two are going to have new love interests, and that they are "surprises." As for those hoping for a Liv and Blaine romance, the producer said that he has a tough time putting the two together because although both of them were zombies during the first season, the two dealt with the transformation in very different ways, with Liv choosing to use her zombie abilities to help Clive solve his cases while Blaine murdered teenagers for his zombie business.

"People have been redeemed, effectively, on television. But at this point, I sure have a tough time getting my head around that," Thomas said about the pairing.

Although they won't be together romantically, the two will share a common enemy in season 2, which will most likely force them to work together.

As for Blaine, Thomas said that he's enjoying being human again and gloats when he runs into Liv. However, he may not reveal to other people that he's no longer a zombie as he still has customers to cater to.

"iZombie" season 2 premiers on Oct. 6 at 9/8c on The CW.
