iPhone 7s, 7s Plus, iPhone 8 release date, specs: Analyst predicts upcoming Apple phones to arrive in 2017

Apple is gearing up to celebrate a huge milestone as next year marks the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. There have been rumors that the Cupertino-based company is planning to go all out with its next-generation devices, as it prepares to release the iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus, and the iPhone 8.

According to Phone Arena, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects that Apple will keep the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus names on the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models, respectively. While there have been rumors that the company might be introducing OLED screens to its 2017 phone lineup, it was said that the phones will keep their LCD displays. Both phones are predicted to have the A11 chipset and all-glass casings.

As for the iPhone 8, the analyst previously said that the phone will come in three models — a standard 4.7-inch version, a 5.5-inch Plus model, and a premium 5.8-inch version, which will be a first for Apple. The premium version is said to have an OLED display.

There have been whispers of a complete redesign for the iPhone 8, and it was claimed that the handset could have an edge-to-edge display, along with a bezel-less design. It's likely that the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will keep their bezels, while the premium iPhone 8 will have the rumored design feature. It was said that the home button could be embedded in the display and that the 5.8-inch version could also have a curved screen.

It was also said that all three 2017 iPhones could have wireless charging capabilities. It was pointed out that the iPhone 7, 7s Plus, and iPhone 8 having all-glass bodies will enable the handsets to support the technology, as metal casings tend to slow down this feature. Kuo said that Foxconn could supply the OLED screens for the premium iPhone 8, while the wireless charging technology will be provided by Pegatron.

It is expected that the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus, and iPhone 8 will be released in September 2017. Stay tuned for more news about Apple's upcoming smartphones.
