Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed took some time out of their busy schedules to attend a charity gala in Beverly Hills, California last week. According to the Daily Mail, the couple was at the Heifer International Annual Beyond Hunger Gala on Friday, Sept. 18, to support the nonprofit organization, which aims to end poverty and hunger through community development.

The pair was dressed in matching dark ensembles for the event, with Reed dressed in a black jumpsuit with a lace panel and the "Vampire Diaries" actor donning black pants and a black blazer over a white shirt. The couple posed on the green carpet and looked very much in love as they smiled at each other at one point while cameras were flashing. The pair also posed with Lucky the Llama, and the newlyweds, who are animal lovers, appeared to be very much at ease while they posed with their new four-legged friend.

Aside from supporting their favorite charities, Somerhalder and Reed have been hard at work with their respective TV shows, which are both filmed in Atlanta. The actor has been filming season 7 of his hit CW show, while the "Twilight" actress has been cast as Betsy Ross in season 3 of "Sleepy Hollow."

The couple started dating in August 2014 and got married in an outdoor ceremony last April. Months after their top secret wedding, they shared some pictures of their special day with Brides magazine for its October-November 2015 issue, and the magazine detailed how the two managed to keep their wedding under wraps.

According to the publication, guests were told that they were going to attend a housewarming party, but after arriving at a shuttle location, they were transported to a secret ceremony site in Topanga Canyon where the couple exchanged vows. Reed told the magazine that they didn't want their loved ones to show up with any expectations.

For their reception, they asked their wedding planner to combine the energy of their favorite music festivals with the vibe of Somerhalder's native New Orleans. Guests feasted on a lavish spread, which included tacos, red velvet wedding cake, and a signature cocktail made for the wedding.

"It really was all about the food, the dancing, and the love," said Reed.
